A quality assignment or research paper comprises three core elements;
i. Structure
ii. Quality Content
iii. Referencing
Structure entails the arrangement of the paper or assignment. It describes how the paper is developed, stepwise and according to the instructions, topic, or questions. A good structure should contain five main sections;
- Title Page: This page consists of the authors' information and the title of the assignment paper. The title should profoundly communicate what the discussion is all about. It should not be too long or short.
- Introduction: This consists of the scope of the discussion and orienting the reader to what the assignment is all about. It should comprise a key element, the thesis statement, which describes the key points in the paper. The introduction is commonly 10% word count of the total research or assignment paper.
- Body: This is the discussion part comprising of a logical arrangement of points and concepts. The paragraphs should be developed systematically with a good transition from one point to the other.
- Conclusion: This is the summary of the entire assignment or research paper that summarizes the main points. A key aspect is that no new ideas or concepts should be introduced in the conclusion section.
- Referencing: This entails recognizing the authors and sources of the assignment or research concepts and ideas. Developing a quality assignment paper is based on following a referencing structure of APA, Harvard, MLA, and Chicago. There are other referencing formats.
Quality content is another core element of an assignment or research. It involves the flow of ideas, which should be correctly referenced. Quality is described by grammar and critical thinking in the thoughts. The assignment paper should not be descriptive but logically developed to demonstrate competence in research skills.
Referencing part of the paper involves acknowledging all the sources, instrumental in developing the paper.
